The CLOIS 3000 system console comprises a flameproof enclosure containing power supplies and control relays, with an intrinsically safe compartment that houses the microprocessor, controlled signalling circuitry and a telemetry interface.

In addition to the console a system can comprise remote amplifiers, signal keys and a pre-start warning monitor generator as shown in the block diagram

 The system is extremely flexible and may be used as a control system in mines and     tunnels for all types of conveyors and haulages.
 The system provides tone signalling, emergency trip, loudspeaker communications and     two monitored pre-start alarms.
 The standard system provides transducer monitoring facilities for up to twelve line
    proved digital inputs. In addition to the two pilot outputs, the console has facilities for up
    to four intrinsically safe relay outputs and one analogue output for unit position
    indication.
 System status is broadcast with voice synthesised messages whenever a change     takes place.
 An additional voice bank of messages can be added for further inputs or relay outputs.

Loudspeaker Communication Facilities

 The system is equipped with the BMA (Battery Mini Amplifier loudspeaker intercom)     system.
 The console is fitted with a H12VDC power supply and an intrinsically safe loudspeaker     amplifier fitted with a rechargeable battery and handset.
 Up to 25 BMA intrinsically safe loudspeaker amplifiers can be connected to the     console.
The audio system can be extended to the surface or to other communications systems.

Construction

The console comprises a metal enclosure with a flameproof section and an intrinsically safe section. The enclosure has two or three compartments:

The main FLP compartment containing     H12VDC power supply and the interposing     pilot control relays.
The FLP isolator compartment containing the mechanically interlocked mains isolator     switch (option).
The main intrinsically safe compartment containing the electronic circuitry which is on a     single PCB.This compartment has a hinged front door on which there is an LCD     indicator, start and stop switches , local remote selector switch, and intrinsically safe     amplifier.

Displays

 The console is equipped with a LCD display to show the status of the system, including     the signalling and transducer inputs
